By using Encoche you accept the following. The text is short — so is the app.
The service
Encoche lets you record the books you read, the page you have reached and your session summaries, then find them again on your devices. The app is provided free of charge, as is.
Your account
Access is through Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for the device and the Apple account you use to sign in. An account is personal: your data is not shared with other users.
What you write
Your reading summaries belong to you. We do not read them, do not exploit them and do not publish them anywhere. They are stored to be given back to you, nothing more.
It is up to you not to copy long copyrighted extracts into them: these notes are meant to summarise, not to reproduce.
Reasonable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to access another user's data;
- disrupt the service, or query it in an automated and massive way;
- use the app for unlawful purposes.
Bibliographic data
Titles, authors, covers and page counts come from third-party catalogues (Google Books, BnF, SUDOC, Open Library). They may contain errors or describe an edition other than yours: you can correct the page count in the app. Covers remain the property of their rights holders and are shown for illustration.
Availability and liability
Encoche is offered without any guarantee of availability or freedom from error. The service may be interrupted, modified or discontinued. To the extent permitted by law, we cannot be held liable for indirect damage arising from use of the app, in particular the loss of reading data.
That said, your data matters: it is hosted on managed infrastructure, and you can request a copy or its deletion at any time.
Termination
You may stop using Encoche whenever you wish and request deletion of your account: see the privacy policy. We may suspend an account that clearly breaches these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought before any legal action.
